A final witness Wednesday for the defense was forensic neurologist Dr. Geoffrey Colino. He testified on Loyd’s neurological health, saying he had organic psychosis and orbital frontal syndrome, which caused distorted perceptions, delusions and paranoia. Colino said this affected Loyd’s ability to conform to the law.
Forensic neurologist Dr. Geoffrey Colino said that Loyd likely suffered from brain damage before he was arrested in connection to Clayton’s murder, diagnosing him with organic psychosis and orbital frontal syndrome. Colino said Loyd suffered detriments to his neurological functions that affected his ability to conform his behavior to the law and contributed to Loyd’s distorted perceptions, delusions and paranoia.

Geoffrey Colino, a forensic neurologist, told jurors he found Loyd’s brain had scarring, likely due to physical trauma, and that during the exam, Loyd displayed delusional thinking and paranoia. He said he diagnosed Loyd as having organic psychosis and executive dysfunction syndrome.
